To Jean, the post cards sent in March are probably long forgotten by now since
their chances to renew at the door were not available, due to postponements.
To Glen , 2019 dues were paid in 2019. 2020 dues were due starting in Jan and
100 haven't been renewed or replaced due to covid cancellations. In Jan and Feb
2021 dues will be due ( if we are allowed to have shows by then) and the 2020
dues not collected will be forever lost. If we are not allowed shows in 2021
some of them will also be lost and our membership will further drop.

Maybe it could be put in the next Newsletter as articles are due by November;
this would allow us to save mailing expense of a special letter, but frankly, I
do believe a special mailing might be appropriate. It will get their
attention.
That being said, I believe Dick's idea is a really good one, whether Newsletter
or separate mailing especially since so many people renew at the door in
January and February (which may still be up in the air). Might as well catch
all the fish rather than just the non-renewals. And it could be re-worked
slightly to urge the non-renewals to get their 2019 dues in also.

Maybe it could go as a general mailing, not just past due members, since so
many members renew at the concertIdea of a mailing makes senseSent from my

I was thinking that a mailing to past due members might be in order, due to
the larger number of members than normal not renewing to date.
Something like:
" This is a friendly reminder that your 2020 SMBA dues are now past due since
January. We realize this has been a completely different and taxing year for
both SMBA and our members but your membership and your dues enable us to keep
this organization going. Our expenses continue, including the costs of the
newsletter , regardless of the situation with covid-19. We know that many pay
their dues at our concerts and our picnic which have been cancelled for this
year and we would appreciate you sending your dues to Jean Snyder, Treasurer"
