I for one, agree with everything you said Dick. I encourage us to make this
a consideration as once this is over, Joe may be hard to book...
I also agree we can look for an alternative location but more because of
the parking that has always been a problem. This could be the catalist to
get it rolling.

Since we are fully booked for next year, what do the officers and board
think of the possibility of adding an extra show to our 2020-21 schedule on
a 1st,3rd, or 4th Saturday in 2020-21 for a re-scheduled concert? A Friday
evening is also a possibility. It seems that those holding shows in the
area do not honor our claim to the 2nd Saturday, so I feel we would not be
doing any great disservice to anyone by taking one of those dates for Joe.
Many have stated that they are disappointed he will not be here this week
and want him to return. I've had more calls and e-mails than for anyone
except Flatt Lonesome on this. If we don't do something like this, it will
be 21-22 season before he can return here
I will work on this with Joe and Laura , if and when the Board and
Officers decide it is what we want to do. I would attempt to pick a date
that has at least a week gap between our other shows and one that fits the
schedule of Joe, the fire hall and Jordan. These things take time and
planning so I thought it best to bring this to the table now and see if
it's something you all want me to work on. At this point, I have plenty of
time on my hands.

On another note , Ursula told me the Fire Co. Trustee she spoke with
yesterday on the cancellation was not very conciliatory toward us about
cancelling, saying that they have food that is already purchased and we
would be charged for the hall. First, I had this discussion with their
Chief after a snow cancellation last year and candidly told him that we
cannot cancel a show before the snow comes. Paying the rent was not an
issue at that time but the food situation was. I spoke with Rob Green who
pretty much runs the food concession and he said that was not a problem
that the food purchased would be frozen for the next show. I would not rush
into paying this rent if we are billed without having a sit down discussion
with them. When everyone is cancelling almost everything and Gov. Wolf
discouraged gatherings of more than 250 people which we surely would have
had , they should not be playing hardball with us. They surely know
beforehand there was a good possibility the show would be cancelled and
should have waited a bit before getting in food supplies.
We've always had a great relationship with Goodwill but things have been
changing and new people have moved into positions there who do not seem to
be as easy to work with. Maybe it's time to look around again for another
possible venue and maybe we should let them know we're looking and why.
It's not easy to replace Goodwill. The fact they have a good and reliable
food concession and that our attendees like it and expect it factors in.
Also the location which is central to the majority of our crowd and
membership cannot be ignored. We cannot allow ourselves to be bullied by
them and at the same time, we hold a few bullets of our own. They know the
hall is rented for 10 dates a year and they also know they make a nice
return on the food concession because of us being there.
Again, Your thoughts on this as well??
