Did you try doing an Hash+Volume up to raze the volume? You said you used the
volume keys but you didn't say of you tried using Hash+Volume up to raze the
volume of the playing file. This means that you need to hold the Has key down
at the same time you press the volume button

Music application when I don't connect headphones, but not when I connect

Well, I tried to at least increase the multimedia volume with the volume keys
on the side of the phone, which, though not restricted to the music but also
encompassing the speech, should have given me the increased volume for the
files I was trying to listen to. I first tried the FM radio and I got increased
volume there. Then when I again tried the mp4 file I was trying to play before,
I found out that the prompt telling me the file that was "currently playing"
was evidently referring to the file I had selected (even though I had not
started to play it or continued from the point I had left off), as I then had
to navigate to the Play button, and then I got it playing. (So, yet another
misleading/confusing prompt!) But then when I got that file playing, I still
couldn't increase the volume any further than the abysmally low volume I was
getting for the file I was playing, only for the speech, which kept on
relentlessly warning me as I pressed the Plus button for increasing volume,
about the dangers of listening to audio at high volume, or that ringtone volume
was set to 100% etc. Most disappointing indeed!

Keep in mind, the SmartVision2 is different then most smart phones on the
market and Macrodroid isn't specialized to the SmartVision2. So it isn't
going to see all the buttons that the SmartVision2 has being it is for the
most part one of the kind on the market.
There is like 6 or so different volume levels that Macrodroid will let you
change. Like Ringtone, Media, Music, Alarm, System, Bluetooth, Phone Audio
and on newer phones Talkback as well. That is just going by memory so I could
be wrong on the wording some or have the wrong name for something.
You would need to play with it to see if you could get it to work for you or
not.

Could one also create a shortcut key for independently setting these volumes?

Yes Macrodroid is an App that can be setup to do different things based on******************************************************
what your phone is doing to complete task for you.
Like in the example when you plug in an set of headphones, you can have it
set the volume differently for the media, music, ringtone, etc... then when
you unplug the headphones change the volume for those items to something
different.
You could have it set the volume for when you use an bluetooth headset to
again to something different then what is used when using wired headphones.
You could have it speak "New text receive" when on an call when using an
bluetooth headset and to say nothing if you are just using the handset by
itself.
You could have it say battery at nn% every time it changes if the battery is
lower than 20% But only do that if there is an bluetooth device connected.
You can have it say "battery is full" when it has finished charging at any
time regardless if an headset/headphone is connect or not.
As far as that goes, you could have it play a tone and not speak anything
for things as well.
When it plays or says something, you can tell it to use the audio stream
that you want and each event can be different as far as audio.
As far as that goes; You could even get down to say when I'm in this program
set the Media and Music audio to this level and set it to something
different is you are in some other program. You could even do things with
the flashlight on the phone as for as turning it on or off.
You could have it announce who is calling if you are on an call and have it
repeat every 5 seconds and stop when you answer the incoming call or the
incoming call hangs up.
Just SOME ideas of what Macrodroid can do for an person. There are
predefined things out there you can download so you don't have to setup
things yourself if you don't want to. However the things that are predefined
may not work the way you fully want so you may need to customize what you
install. The program is free up to 5 items you want done and then you will
need to buy it if you need more than 5 things done.
This isn't for everyone but some may find useful.

Thanks, Stephen. Yes, I was using standard headphones, not a headset, which
I don't even have. What is Macrodroid? Is that an app?

difference between an headphones and Headset. Is an Headset has an

music and the like on the SmartVision2.
Keep in mind, you may need to use something like Macrodroid and change the
volume levels for Media playback anhd Music playback when headphones are
plugged in. The SmartVision2 doesn't let you change these two volume levels
on their own by default.

Subject: [smartvisionau] mp4/m4a files for some reason playing In Play
Music application when I don't connect headphones, but not when I connect

Hi Sam/list,
I transferred some files from my computer to the SmartVision2, which I had
downloaded from:
https://directory.libsyn.com/shows/view/id/batcast
(The podcasts are in mp4 format, and they have the .m4a extension.) I tried
playing them in the Play Music application, half-expecting they wouldn't
work, as I wasn't sure if that application only handled mp3 files?
Strangely, the application was telling me the file was playing when I had
my wired headphones connected, even though I wasn't hearing the sound; yet
I could hear it when I tried without the headphones. (And when I had the
headphones connected, other audio from the phone was working as it has
previously.) So I'm wondering what's the situation with this format and the
Play Music application, and why would it work without headphones, yet not
with headphones?
Regards
Vivien
