It's certainly unusual for the phone to drain that quickly, but less unusual
for it to charge as slowly as it did. I'd expect this to be the case.
Perhaps the app is a battery hog, or perhaps there is another process running.
You can long press the home button, you'll probably hear google search. Then
press menu, and arrow down to Dismiss all apps. This will ensure everything is
closed, preserving battery life.
