Thanks, Stephen and Sam, and yes, the SmartVision2 is somewhat fiddly
with that process of copying files over, even without a microSD card
involved, but I'll have a try when I get my MP3 player and microSD card
back. I may ultimately get a card reader too.

Yes the drive should show up when you plug the SmartVision2 into your computer. However you may need to first tell thee SmartVision2 after you have plugged it in that you want to use it as an Mass Media device or something like that. It isn’t as simple as just plugging it in. You do need to enter act with the phone to tell it you want to transfer files.******************************************************
Then on your computer! You’ll need to use Windows Explorer/Computer to copy the files and then go down to the SmartVision2 to be able to select the spot you want to paste them.
I would suggest you buy an MicroSD card reader being they in the USA are under $10 for one and you will probably get a lot higher transfer rate and less steps in order to copy files. Granted if you get an more costly MicroSD card reader! Something that is USB 3.0 then you will be set for down the road if you decide to get a faster card. The old cards will still work as well in it.
Myself I don’t even bother with the old USB 2.0 stuff anymore and haven’t for a few years.

Hi Vivien,
IN short, yes, it will. When you insert the Micro SD card into the SmartVision, and view it on your PC, you'll have the choice of either internal storage, or the SD card.
You'll then be able to copy and paste files to/from the card.
Thanks

Hi Sam/list,
I purchased an affordable simple little MP3 player AM/FM Radio from
Accessible Electronics, along with a microSD card. Here is a link
for the page with info about the player:
http://www.talkingmp3players.com/MP3-AMFM-radio-player_p_39.html
I wanted to copy some files from my computer to the player (with
microSD card in the player), for playing on the player; but the
computer isn't recognising the player, even when the microSD card is
in it and it is connected to the computer via the miniUSB
data/charging cable, nor was it recognised on my sister's computers
at her place, except for one laptop (which is newer than the other
devices). I don't have a card slot on my computer, and have
misplaced/lost the card reader I bought back in the early 2000s, and
in any case, am not even sure if that would have a slot for these
microSD cards, as I was using it back then for those compact flash
cards which were used on the old BrailleNote Classics. So if I were
to put the microSD card into the SmartVision2 and copy the files
onto it that way (ie with the phone connected to my computer), is it
supposed to show anything different from just having the phone
connected with no microSD card? Can I use the microSD slot on the
phone for that purpose in the first place or is it more for apps? I
hadn't used a microSD card before, and it seems my computer, despite
running Windows 10 as of the beginning of the year, isn't playing
nicely with recognising the player.
Regards
Vivien
