To start Vivien the SmartVision2 doesn't use the normal version of TalkBack. It
uses an highly changed very outdated version of it. On top of that, the
operating system that the SmartVision2 runs is 4 versions out of date. It uses
Android 6 and phone that are coming out this year use Android 10.
So what I'm saying is I wouldn't expect any major improvements to the
SmartVision2. They would have to come out with a much newer version of the
SmartVision2 device to take advantage of some of the function that are in the
newest version of TalkBack providing it even used the normal version to start
with. Example, they would need to add an finger print reader and they would
need to have at least Android 8.0 on it. Even if they came out with that device
this year running what is just needed to allow TalkBack to work with all
functions; It will already be outdated to do the Android version. Like I said
phones are shipping with Android 10 on them now.

Subject: [smartvisionau] Am I correct in guessing Google's new Braille keyboard
is not being rolled out/made available for Kapsys SmartVision2?
Hi,
I've already seen much discussion on the Eyes-free list (which Google has now
made an announcements-only list) about the new Braille keyboard available in
TalkBack. Once again, however, there's no indication of this being made
available for the SmartVision2 (and I've just checked the Kapsys site). Here's
a link to an article from Android Central:
https://www.androidcentral.com/googles-new-braille-keyboard-makes-typing-more-accessible-android
and here's the link for the instructions for enabling, setting it up and using
it:
https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/9728765
So what's the status on this, please?
Regards
Vivien
