Well, I did find one problem, which enables me to compile.  For some
reason, the .kuname file which contains the kernel version has a leading
tab, which is causing the problem.  (Also, in at least one version
.kuname is required in two places, but isn't copied, apparently.)

My workaround was to fix these two files in the mol source tree:

obj-ppc/build/src/kmod/.kuname
obj-ppc/build/src/netdriver/.kuname

That fix enabled me to compile cleanly, but 0.9.71pre6 doesn't seem to
like my OS X partition.  Not sure where the problem lies: it's a large
partition, which may be part of it, and it holds Tiger, which may also
be a part of it.  If I find anything that helps I'll post back.
