Do we have derivatives?!? ;-) Serious talk: Playstation 3 is very well supported by linux kernel, I've take a look at lots of docs and come up thinking that installing Slackintosh on it is not really difficult but non-trivial. First thing first you need a livecd, I'd suggest starting with gentoo-ps3 livecd as it should comes with lots of developing stuff on it (e.g. a working toolchain ;-) ) and an usb key with the "otheros" loader. Once you did the partitioning you can install Slackintosh packages following the efika tutorial: http://wiki.workaround.ch/kakiwaki/wk.jsp?P='EFIKA' which is nothing more than ./installpkg from a separate usb disk. At this point, you should have an unconfigured and unbootable slackintosh on the PS3, following the previous tutorial you've to configure required files and building a kernel (surely, the kernel-generic will not boot). I think that a "make ps3-defconfig" will do the trick. There're still some points left over, e.g. I don't know if you could link against 32bit glibc, if it's not the case you'd have to rebuilt them from the live enviroment but it shouldn't be too much trouble. > I plan on buying one in the near future and would love to run slack on it. Playstation3 is a nice piece of hardware to get your hands on. Not really powerful, compared to latest n-core, but surely hackable. I'm still planning to plan the buying :-P but I'd love to get one of those, especially now that the 40GB version is out and should be cheaper than the 60GB one. ciao -- Marco Bonetti Slackintosh Linux Project Developer: http://workaround.ch/ Linux-live for powerpc: http://workaround.ch/pub/rsync/mb/linux-live/ My webstuff: http://sidbox.homelinux.org/ My GnuPG key id: 0x86A91047
