hfsutils is inside MAC .. ..

The installer gets it information from mac-fdisk.
We use the same version as ppc-debian does..
Could you post the output of
mac-fdisk -l /dev/hdX
from slackintosh AND redhat?
(Maybe it's called different on RH)
