Forrest J Ackerman som dog för några år sedan, var känd som världens kanske
stölrste sf-samlare (både böcker, magasin, filmprylar - f ö besökte han Sverige
1979 då många fans kunde träffa honom på ett SFSF-event) och Mr SF.
Nu har det startats en kampanj för att bevara hans hus:

" His Los Feliz home acted as a private museum for his collection, but now his
neighbors are fighting to keep his last home from being torn down.
Ackerman was the literary agent to Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov ,and the
publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland. He amassed a giant memorabilia
collection before having to sell most of it once he was broke. When hemoved to
a smaller house in Los Feliz, he called it the “Acker Mini-Mansion,” and opened
it to the public every Saturday. There Ackerman put Bela Lugosi’s cape from
Dracula and Plan 9 From Outer Space, a replica of the Robotrix from Metropolis,
and hundreds of other pieces on display
Ackerman died in 2008, and his remaining memorabilia was sold off, but now
the Mini-Mansion is in danger of being replaced with a parking lot. Even though
the house’s museum aspect is no more, there’s been a Change.org petition to
declare the house a cultural landmark."
Tyvärr är nog mycket av hans samling skingrad (såld) men en del finns kanske
kvar, och det går alltid att fylla på med mer.
