Dan,
Would you consider the following ideas?:
1. After pressing ESC to leave an edit field, Access would speak
confirmation of the field in focus, or the beat in the score.
2. The go-to-bar command would speak the new place of arrival.
3. In the chord symbol field the spacebar would trigger spoken
confirmation of the new place in the notes or rests.
