A couple things here. I haven't tried it yet, but I recognize the alt+b
command as that which adds bars to a score. But I'll look it up. So, when a
note is cross staffed as you say, does there need to be a rest in the staff
where the note had been?

Dale,
right off hand, as I recall, select the note you wish to cross-staff, and
type Alt B.  I believe this should move the note to the same pitch in the
opposite staff.  this is particularly useful when a note is high in the bass
clef of a piano part and you wish to assign it to the right hand.  There are
cases in which you can reenforce this by drawing a line between the two
staves.  but I'm less clear on when and how to do this.
