Shulong,

Thank you for your interest in the IBIS Interconnect Modeling
Specification (ICM).

The [ICM S-parameter] keyword simply "maps" the ports in a Touchstone(R)
file to node names as used in the [Nodal Path Description]. The node
names in both parts of the ICM model should be identical, to assure that
the S-parameter block will be properly connected in the nodal path
description.

As to the ports, these are not explicitly defined in the Touchstone(R)
file as names, but rather as numbers, arranged by position. If you
examine the Touchstone(R) specification, archived with the ICM documents
(see the URL below), you will see that the port data is arranged in a
defined way in every Touchstone(R) file.

For example, any two-port S-parameter data set will be arranged in a
Touchstone(R) file as follows:

# <information on the data type and how the data was collected>
<frequency> <S11> <S21> <S12> <S22>

where <S11> is the scattering data for port 1 reflections when port 1 is
stimulated, etc. For any Touchstone(R) file, the port data is always
arranged in the same fashion, as defined by the specification.

The first [ICM S-parameter] column, then, simply associates a
Touchstone(R) port number (and the port's data) with a node under the
[Nodal Path Description]. The Touchstone(R) ports are not text names or
strings, but instead should always be called out by integer numbers.

The documents can be found at http://www.eda.org/pub/ibis/connector/.

I hope this helps!

Hi,

If no any port names are decribed in Touchstone files, then the existing
of input port name in "Port_assignment" is no meanings.
Maybe it only gives the order of node name as defined in [Nodal Path
Description] from top to bottom. This order is related to that
of ports in Touchstone files.

Thank in advanced

Shulong
