Hello Anand, Well, you can use any method that you like provided you use thick traces = and use multiple vias. You should preferably use a localized plane around = the connector pin and the regulator pad. Hi all, I am building a PCB that mainly has a xilinx virtex 2000 {XCV2000E} Now this is a dual voltage chip, i.e : it requires: 1) 1.8 volts for core voltage=20 2) 3.3 volts for I/O's I guess I will need "two" power planes for the "two" voltages = respectively ?=20 I am using a PC ATX power supply for this purpose . This supply=20 will connect to a PC ATX connector on my board. On the board I am generating the 1.8 volt using a voltage regulator. Now my question is: Should the power pin of the PC ATX connector connect directly to=20 the respective power plane by using a VIA ?=20 --------OR----------- Is it alright if the trace from this power pin first passes through=20 a header part before going to the power plane ( again using a VIA) ? please do reply with your comments/suggestions ;I'd really appreciate = any feedback. thanks a lot Anand Kulkarni ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: =20 //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages=20 Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu =20 ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
