High-speed connector vendors like Tyco/Amp, FCI, Samtec, etc., have a lot of information and simulation results for 5G and 10G signaling through connectors and across FR4 backplanes. Amp has a presentation that shows acceptable eyes at 10Gbps LVDS across through a connector and 20" of FR4 backplane (if I remember correctly). Routing and connector pinout are critical at those data rates, and 20" is about the physical limit for FR4. The dielectric variations and losses, as well as vias, trace variations, etc., eventually close the eye. I know this is not a fair question since it depends a lot on rise time and receiver sensitivities thats why an eye diagram is better but still some rule of thumbs for 10gig speeds will be very welcome > > thanks a lot > > > ------------------------------------------------ > Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com > The most personalized portal on the Web! > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > To unsubscribe from si-list: > si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field > > or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: > //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list > > For help: > si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field > > List archives are viewable at: > //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list > or at our remote archives: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages > Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: > http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
