+1000000000 for Ed
Ibrahim,
No offence, if you are not confident enough what you ask can compromise =
your company, don't ask. Off company email or not. By the same token, if =
you are not confident enough what you answer will not compromise your =
company, don't tell. Off company email or not.
Do you own homework if you company feels it cares enough not wanting to =
share, you get paid to do a job not surfing SI-list.

Here is one of the reason I think people use non-specific email
addresses.
Couple of years ago I was working for a Startup company and got chewed
up by my manager for posting a question on si-list. His argument was
that by the question, other companies can get fair idea what we are
trying to do and that could be detrimental for a startup company with
limited resources. I think the argument was very valid. So, need to
find a way to accommodate folks in this kind of situation.
Any suggestions
Ibrahim Khan

I'm with Ed, I like to know who I am talking (or listening) to.
Anyway, why would anyone who is using this list NOT want the others
to know who they are?

Why would we care about their name or companies? This is a place for
technical discussions only unless someone want it for commercial
purpose.

Thanks,
