[SI-LIST] Transponder Vs transducer

Hi All,
Can anybody mention what is the difference for the transponder and
transducers. Most of the times i could see that these names are
interchanged. Is it correct?
From my understanding it seems like transceiver is transmitter+ receiver and
transponder is doing the same thing depends on the response from a master
device/command. Please help me!!!
