As a unrelated matter (as far as SI is concerned) does anyone know if any 3D
AutoCAD models of SMB/SMA connectors available out there, perhaps by a
manufacturer of such connectors.

Thanks,

Are there significant advantages to using an edge-launch SMB in the
frequency range I'm using (1.5GHz)?

It seems that for middle-of-the-board use a through hole device might be
just as good as the SMT device, particularly if the SMT device requires a
via. Am I right?

We use a lot of edge launched SMB connectors from EF Johnson I believe.
They seem to work good and have good lifetime in testing applications. The
cables we use are pre-made so I don't know who made those connectors.
