Processors that require an external clock to feed an internal PLL will have specific limits to spread spectrum input clock parameters (modulation range, % spread) and they should be stated in the processor designer's guide since the requirements are processor dependent. Any PLL input with a tight jitter specification will likely prohibit use of spread spectrum clocking. -Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: Bashir, Shiraz (MED) [mailto:Shiraz.Bashir@xxxxxxxxxx]=20 > Sent: Friday, April 30, 2004 6:40 PM > To: 'si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' > Subject: [SI-LIST] Spread Spectrum Clock Synthesizers >=20 >=20 > HI, >=20 > Does any body has experience in using Spread Spectrum Clock=20 > Synthesizers/ Driver (similar to CY2287).=20 > http://eent3.sbu.ac.uk/units/ade/warpdocs/CDrom/CDROM/DOCS/PRO > DUCT/CLOCK/CY2 > 287.PDF >=20 > My question is what happens when a PLL (CY2287) output is fed=20 > into another PLL (inside Motorola MPC8270ZU microprocessor) ? >=20 > Spread Spectrum Clock Synthesizers manufacturer claim that=20 > they reduce EMI as compared to non-modulated parts. >=20 > Also what specifications should I look at while selecting a=20 > Spread Spectrum Clock Synthesizer to meet my system=20 > requirement (i.e., MPC8270ZU). >=20 > Thanks, > shiraz >=20 >=20 > -----Original Message----- > From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx=20 > [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of mahamud khandokar > Sent: Friday, April 30, 2004 3:42 PM > To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [SI-LIST] Ansoft Nexxim? versus Hspice >=20 >=20 > Dear All, >=20 > =20 >=20 > can anyone tell me which one is the best for simulation:=20 >=20 > =20 >=20 > Ansoft Nexxim(tm) or Hspice >=20 > =20 >=20 > please tell me something positive/negetive ,if anyone used=20 > this new software before. >=20 > =20 >=20 > I need to buy one of them for my company. we are PCB design=20 > based company. >=20 > =20 >=20 > Thanks. >=20 > =20 >=20 > Misty >=20 > =20 >=20 >=20 > =09 > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo!
