Attn: Matt Herndon For those looking to use S-parameters from vendors on their devices, some programs like Spectrum software's Micro-Cap can process Y-parameters. There is a straight-forward conversion of S to Y parameters described on the Spectrum Software web site (spectrum-soft.com) in their newsletter for "Winter 2001." Spectrum has simplified this process by providing a DOS-based program to do the conversion to Y-parameters. Once converted, the Y-parameters can then be expressed in Laplace Table current sources for modeling and simulation. An example of this process (with the LT circuit configuration) is also given to verify correlation and demonstrate the process. Micro-Cap is based on Berkeley SPICE 3.5h (or later); hence, many other programs may be able to use this approach to handle S-parameter files. Mike Michael L.
