SI-LIST Members, I am a Signal Integrity Engineer seeking employment. I have 20+ years of experience in the Telecommunications and Electronics industry, focussing on signal integrity and EM modeling for the past 7 years. I was recently part of another economy-induced layoff from a small start-up IC company in the Portland, OR area. In addition to signal integrity, I have contributed to many other areas of the industry including RF modeling and simulation, radio frequency ID tags, multi-beam array antennas, andmultichip module process development and accelerated life testing. I've appended my resume. Please feel free to contact me at e.sweetman@xxxxxxxxx\ Eric Sweetman ----------------------- Eric Sweetman Portland, Oregon e.sweetman@xxxxxxxxx PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE: A professional engineering or R&D job in the electronics industry with a strong emphasis on Signal Integrity and / or Electromagnetic Modeling. EDUCATION PhD in Physics, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI - Teaching and Research Assistant MS in Physics, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI SB in Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA WORK EXPERIENCE - R&D engineer in the telecommunications and electronics industry for over 21 years. - Contributed to the development of a wide range of products, including multi-chip module manufacturing and test processes, environmentally-benign manufacturing processes, subsystems for radio frequency ID tags and calibration procedures for multi-beam antennas. - Supported many RF and high-speed digital product development organizations through electronic modeling and simulation. 2001 - 2003 SENIOR SIGNAL INTEGRITY ENGINEER Accelerant Networks - Enhanced Accelerant Network sales pitch to potential customers by evaluating their backplanes, cables or other copper interconnect structures for maximum performance potential with Accelerant Network products. Provided customers with detailed reports from Network Analyzer and BER laboratory measurements together with computer simulations. I have analyzed approximately 50 such systems for over 25 companies. - Improved high-speed board and backplane layout using 2-D and 3-D electromagnetic modeling software. Interconnect features were optimized for best performance, resulting in better board designs for internal designers and external customers. - Advised in-house engineers and potential customers on design changes to improve multi-gigabit/sec performance. 1982 - 2001 MEMBER OF TECHNICAL STAFF Lucent Technologies Bell Labs - Improved high-speed digital backplane and circuit card designs, working with four different Lucent Technologies business units, using measurement, electromagnetic modeling and simulation. Systems that I simulated included unbalanced and differential, multi-drop and point-to-point buses (1998 - 2001). - Affected architecture changes to improve RF backplanes, circuit cards, coaxial connector interfaces and antennas, working with Lucent Technologies wireless business units (1996 - 1998). - Developed simple and reliable internal phase/amplitude calibration system for a multi-beam smart antenna project (1996 - 1997). - Designed subsystems and novel data analysis methods for Radio Frequency tags for cargo and package tracking (1994 - 1996). - Provided critical support to the development of new photopolymer materials through Temperature-Humidity-Bias (THB) accelerated stress testing. Created software applications for analysis and reporting of reliability test results. Designed test circuits to evaluate the reliability of new polymer materials. Maintained and ran a THB test laboratory (1987 - 1994). - Designed a prototype solvent spray developer to test ozone-friendly replacement solvents. Test results guided design of full-scale system for manufacturing electronic hybrid circuits (1990 - 1992). - Created a flexible database, when nothing similar existed, used to track visual inspection (1986 - 1989). - Invented processing methods for coating, patterning and curing photopolymer materials as a principle member of the AT&T POLYHIC Multichip Module development team (1982 - 1989).
