Hello Siddharth,
from basics theory of waves and oscillations I understand at resonance, the
magnitude of energy is infinite, so to make it finite, we use damping,
Similarly in electronic oscillator (RLC Ckts) Damping is obtained by using
the resistor., and i guess damping factor is R/2L, Resistor cause amplitude
of energy to be finite at resonant frequencies.

Could you please tell me what do you mean by "The primary purpose of the
dampening resistor on the other hand helps in the attenuating the signal
wherever required in the transmission line".

Thanks and regards
Aaditya
