Ismail, in a current design I am powering three SpartanIIe cores (50e, 150e, 300e) from an ltc3411 synch switcher(couldn't take the power loss of an LDO from 5V). The power requirements for power-on and operating are fairly well described by Xilinx in module 3 of the data sheet, XAPP 189, and their power calculator that can be found on the web page. Hope this helps Tegan Campbell -----Original Message----- From: Ismail B - CTD, Chennai. I want to know if anyone used SPARTAN IIE FPGA in any of their design. It seems that the FPGA draws a high current during start up which appers almost like a short circuit I am in the process of selecting an appropriate Voltage regulator but not sure how good it will be. My worst fear is that once the Voltage regulator senses the high current draw it may shutdown. It will be of great help if anyone could provide the part number/manfacturer of Voltage regulator used in their earlier (working :) ) design.
