[SI-LIST] SI Job modes

All,
We are getting excellent technical information (very hard to find in published
works) out of the 'Even mode, common mode, and mode conversion' thread. This
is indeed one of those rare threads with a very, very high SNR.
Another issue I thought would be of current interest and importance to the list
is the SI job modes. I mean, in this shaky economy where even the VP - Hardware
Engineering jobs are targets for restructuring, what is crossing the minds of
SI folks? When economy hits big segments of industry big time, a lot of SI
fellows - junior as well as senior - are being affected. That aspect, I
believe, merits this job related thread.
SI people, what is your take on shape of SI jobs to come over next one year.
Also, predictions on likely trends of changing SI job modes (networking mode,
RFIC/MMIC mode, "optical" mode etc.) appreciated.
