I'm using a Touchstone .s4p file (4 port S-parameter) as my channel in a backplane serdes simulation in Hspice. There's no ground reference for the touchstone file; my simulation deck basically looks like this: Xdriver inp inn vcc vss txp txn tx_model $ plus pre-emphasis settings S1 txp txn rxp rxn mname=s_model Xreceiver rxp rxn vcc vss input_model My question is does it make sense to keep the same return node, vss, for the driver and receiver circuits or should I add in LCR circuitry to account for card1-connector-backplane-connector-card2 path it takes?
