[SI-LIST] RT5880 question

I find that with most PCB vendors there is a "floor" of about $2000. It
almost doesn't matter what you order, the floor for starting a job is
about this amount.

I expect you could double the qty to 24 and they would still quote about
$2000.

Subject: [SI-LIST] RT5880 question

Dear all,

I have asked 2 vendors for a quote for a 2in x 2in, RT5880, 10mil thick,
1oz
Cu (top and bottom layers only). No assembly required, just the board.
The
board is designed for a microwave application and has about 25 vias.

The quotes seem on the expensive side (12 boards for ~$2,000.00 in
10days;
10 boards for ~1,000.00 in 10 days), particularly in the first case. It
is a
prototype, so I just need a handful of boards. I am also a first time
customer - I got the vendor's names from a Rogers rep, the substrate
does
not seem available for instant web-quotes.

Are these amounts what I should expect in your view? I prefer not to
disclose the names of the vendors but if you have a name in mind you
want to
share with me, I have yet to place my order.

Thank you in advance,
Luciano
