When only a flash of gold has been plated on a connector, it will not make a
reliable connection over time due to corrosion due to exposed nickel that is
under the gold.  If you want guaranteed reliability overtime, the gold
plating must be at least 25 microinches thick.

gold. Does anything in the markings on them suggest one way or another?
