In broad general terms -
1)Pre/post layout analysis: SI, EMI, Power plane
2)3-D capability for interconnect analysis
3)TDA and VNA (you know, like Agilent makes)
Depends on what you are doing and at what edgerates. Some people need the
3-D solvers right up front, some don't. Some people need SPICE, some don't.
So 3-D and SPICE have to be there, at least as sales/marketing package
options.

I would like to extend two questions to the list.

What do you feel are the primary hardware (instrumentation) tools of the
signal integrity engineers? These are hardware tools that are required for
the SI engineer to do his/her job.

The second question is what would you consider to be secondary hardware
tools of the SI engineer? These would be tools that you would use if you
could but would not be considered critical to getting the job done.

Thanks.

Regards,
Rick
