Job Overview: Plexus Technology Group is seeking energetic, experienced hardware engineers passionate about challenging design & leadership opportunities to join our product development team. Opportunities exist in our Boulder Design Center, located just minutes from the breathtaking Rocky Mountains of Boulder, Colorado. As a member of our world-class team, you will be responsible for the hardware portion of a broad range of complex products for customers in the telecom, medical, military and industrial industries. Minimum qualifications: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university. - Ability to work in global cross-functional product teams that include Software/Mechanical/Hardware engineers, PCB designers, and Project Managers. - Possess strong analytical, decision making & problem solving skills. - Possess a solid understanding of electronic components and systems. - Possess good verbal and written communication skills. - A minimum of 5 years of prior development experience in the design and analysis of hardware circuits and systems. - Prior experience and competence with industry leading hardware design tools for schematic capture, PCB layout and signal integrity simulation from leading vendors like Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys and SiSoft. - Prior experience and competence with industry leading programmable logic chip design tools for timing, synthesis, simulation, and place & route from leading vendors like Xilinx, Altera, Synplify and Mentor Graphics. Responsibilities: - Technically lead a team within chosen discipline in the development of products to ensure successful design and implementation. - Actively mentor employees to assist in their development into successful and productive engineers. - Determine and document customer's product and system functional requirements in order to determine the objectives for future phases of the project. - Architect and design hardware solutions by analyzing the performance and feasibility of alternative hardware concepts using circuit theory, simulations, and mathematical models. - Implement and verify the hardware design by using the appropriate EDA tools. - Deliver prototype hardware to customers by implementing physical hardware designs by selecting components, capturing schematics, and supervising PCB layouts. - Develop and execute hardware design verification test plans per requirements specifications to ensure prototypes meet design requirements. - Use lab equipment and debug techniques to ensure products meet design requirements. - Support the transition of products to manufacturing by providing documentation and assistance to -ensure production start-up issues are resolved in a timely manner. - Directly interface with customers to clearly and concisely communicate technical information. - Contribute to the development of new business proposals to ensure accurate technical, budgetary, and schedule content. - Participate in the Plexus ISO9001 & ISO13485 certified quality system to ensure design teams consistently produce high quality results. - Participate in design reviews for customer projects to ensure quality design output. - Architect and design digital logic solutions for programmable logic devices such as FPGAs using timing analysis, state machines, and hardware description languages such as Verilog or VHDL.
