Hi All, I want to design a patch antenna for UHF RFID reader. There are two options: 1. A microstrip patch antenna but the bandwidth will be less with this antenna. 2. A patch antenna with metal plates which can provide more bandwidth. My requirements are: A circularly polarized patch antenna with 6~9 dBi gain and 865 - 867MHz bandwidth cover. Antenna should be able to radiate +30dBm (1W) RF power. Can anybody suggest which option will be good? Also where can I find good application notes for patch antenna design? One more doubt I have here is how to select the metal for 2nd option. Which material will be best suited for this?
