These models exist, but you have to get them from PHY vendor. Some vendors are Broadcom, Marvel, etc... -----Original Message----- From: Painter, Chris [mailto:Chris.Painter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 5:29 PM To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] All, I have run across many instances where Ethernet signals were incorporated in PCB designs we are working on, and there has been a desire to analyze these circuits to verify signal integrity, particularly for "gigabit Ethernet". To date, I have not been able to find models (neither IBIS or HSPICE) to perform simulation with. I've also been able to find basic electrical information such as voltage levels, edge rates, and VI curves to cobble together rough approximations of models. I recall questions about Ethernet models being posted here in the past, but have never seen any replies. Is it a fact that models do not exist, and if so, what are the characteristics of Ethernet signaling that prevents models being developed? Is simulation the wrong approach to take when evaluating Ethernet in a PCB? If so, what are the alternatives? I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
