Justin,

We are talking about conversion of differential signals into common-mode
signals on a differential transmission line. This is caused by imbalance
between the signals on each side of the couple pair of lines. This
imbalance may be a physical path length difference in the two lines, or it
may be a difference in the signals on each of the two line.

I sort of came in on the tale end of this - What is meant by mode
conversion- is it TEM to TE or TM or differential to common mode or even
mode impedance to odd mode impedance or there abouts ?

Thanks
