I have used extensively the Cadence Concept(Orcad)
/Allegro tool flow and the Mentor Expedition(Veribest)
tool flow extensively.
In my opinion, the Mentor Expedition is slightly
better, due to the fact that it is a newer software,
very well integrated, with excellent autorouting
capabilities. And it integrates very well with ICX,
Hyperlynx and its native SI tool.
Expedition can read/write the data base for Allegro
too (the reverse is not true, as far as i know).
I think it can import/export databeses from
BoardStation also.
The Cadence tool flow is well integrated, the
autorouter (Spectra-the old CC)is stellar and it has a
good SI tool-SpectraQuest.
If you have Allegro and BoardStation, it makes sense
to migrate to Allegro altogether.
It will be a good choice.
