Hi Brahim,=20

In a similar situation - but with a proprietary bus - we
used PTFE dielectric, controlled impedance cables from Gore.=20
Our impedance needs were 50 Ohms and required length was 24 inches.
This mini-project had a very short time frame and a shoestring budget,=20
so we picked an off-the-shelf configuration. The lack of any NRE=20
more than compensated for the somewhat pricey per-unit tag (needed=20
multiple ~ 32-bit wide cables because the bus was wide).

Our on-paper timing budget indicated that we would have adequate
margin at 80 MHz and it ran flawlessly at that target (and of course we=20
had success running it faster too). Turned out to be fairly robust,=20
this configuration even went to a trade show and far outlived it's=20
expected usefulness.

Subject: [SI-LIST] MAX. IDE CABLE Length?

Dear SI group,

I am building a debug station that requires a long IDE, Integrated
Device Electronics, cable ~1meter.

My questions are the followings:

1. What is the max. length of cable I can use without affecting signal
integrity?

2. Any suggestions what type of cable(s) to use?

Thanks you
Brahim
