I am also learning from Thierauf's book. It came recommended by the SIGINT
expert we once had here.
BTW, thanks for the video link, Doug.

Bill,

The Young's book is relatively rigorous and theoretical, but not too much
theoretical at the same time - well balanced. Good to learn fundamentals :-) It
is one of the books I used to learn the signal integrity subject. Another book
on SI that I leaned from was S. C. Thierauf, High-speed circuit board signal
integrity, Artech House, 2004.

Best regards,
Yuriy

Hi Yuriy: Is there anything in particular that stands out to you about Young's
book? (Something it covers well that's unique and different?)

Stephen,

In addition to what was already recommended on signal integrity, I would like
to add:
B. Young, Digital signal integrity: Modeling and simulation with interconnects
and packages, Prentice Hall PTR, 2001.

Note, that the digital interconnects are just planar waveguiding structures
with the complications imposed by the signal bandwidth and manufacturing
technology. To understand the fundamentals of the subject I can recommend to
start with the theory of transmission lines and the relevant parts of the
microwave theory (assuming that you already have good understanding of the
circuit theory):
C. Paul, Analysis of Multiconductor Transmission Lines, Wiley-IEEE, 2007.
F. Gardiol, Microstrip circuits, John Wiley & Sons,1994.
D.M. Pozar, Microwave engineering, John Wiley & Sons, 1998.
S. Ramo, J.R. Whinnery, T. Van Duzer, Fields and waves in communication
electronics, John Wiley & Sons, 1994.

Best regards,
Yuriy

Subject: [SI-LIST] Intro to Signal Integrity fundamental book

Hi, All,
Can anyone recommend me a good fundamental signal integrity book?
I am an ~15 yrs ASIC Electrical Engineer (primary in digital area and small
exposure to analog/mixed design) who is recently jumping into signal integrity
project that will be "applying" the SI concepts on transmission line to analyze
IO behavior, impedance analysis, eye-diagram analysis, dc/ac behavior of its
spice simulation...etc.

I am looking for an "applied" SI book that is fundamental and easy to
understand for EE person like me.
I found a forum that recommended this intro book: "Electromagnetics for
Engineers" by Fawwaz T. Ulaby

Has anybody read that book and can validate if it's a good starting point book
for me? Or maybe there is a better book out there for me?

Thank you very much for your help on this.

Regards,
Stephen
