Mike,
You are making valid points, but here are a few more thoughts
to consider:
More points will slow the simulator down,
More points can increase the file size,
We generally want the (sum of the) I-V curves to be monotonic,
since non-monotonicity can introduce non-convergence, or false
convergence. Monotonic I-V curves generally need fewer points.
Thanks,
Arpad

Yes you are correct Arpad. I'm also tempted to wonder if this application calls
for more I-V points. But equal voltage spacing is not required, and usually
there is some range through which large steps are acceptable. On the other
hand, it might be easier to automatically generate I-V curves if they could
always be fixed step with less worries about the number of points.

Mike,
1000 points are only allowed for V-t tables. I-V tables
are limited to 100 points in all IBIS versions to date...
(see pg. 53 in the v6.1 IBIS spec):

And beginning with IBIS 4.0, 1000 points are allowed.

Pranesh,
The IBIS specification does not prohibit you to enter a wider range of
data in your I-V tables, you just need to keep the number of points to
no more then 100.

Hi,

Question: Is it ok to exclude power and ground clamp characteristicsIBIS file in this case? Wouldn't end customer need clamp characteristics in the
