Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has any good tips on modeling the transient event of a
pluggable module. The circuit I've made so far composes of a 3.3V DC Source
feeding a simplified PDN which feeds the load. Between the load and the
PDN, I have a simple switch, which at the start of the transient, is open.
I setup the simulation so that the switch closes a long time after the PDN
caps and components have charged and stabilized. The switch closes, and
there flows the inrush current. This is what I'm trying to simulate.

This may be a silly question but my thoughts are with the switch. In the
simulation, I believe the switch is an instantaneous step, which imo
doesn't seem real... It may be just fine but my gut tells me I might be
missing something. Elaborating, my gut also says that there should be a
certain rise time of the "plug" event but what could it be? Not sure. *just
brainstorming here*

This whole problem is important to me because the inrush current depends on
the dV/dt so my results may be coming in higher than they really should be,
given that I am in fact correct about there being something missing in the
model. I'm tempted to start playing with components, but I'm afraid of a)
not knowing exactly what I'm doing and b) creating something that will
interfere with the original circuit.

I'd appreciate any help on this one.
