Formula based impedance calculators often produce inaccurate results.
Better to use a field solver.

Subject: [SI-LIST] Free Transmission Line Calculator
Hi,
I've recently returned to consluting work and have the opportunity to release
some tools I developed a while ago into the public domain and wanted to share
some of them with the SI List.
I developed an impedance transmission line calculator that basically provides a
nice litte GUI interface to calculating PCB stackup impedance using standard
microstrip/stripline impedance formulas. You can also graph impedance versus
different parameters like trace width. As a bonus there is support for open
source 2D field sovler to calcuate L and C for differential and coupled
tranmission lines (sorry no lossy models) and if you have an HSPICE license it
can interface with the built-in field solver.
It was written in Java so you will need to have Java installed on your
computer. It is free to use for both commerical and personal use and can be
downloaded at http://www.signalbytestech.com/wSolver.html.
Hopefully someone will find this tool useful in their work.
Best,
Tim Coyle
