SI-Listers in and around Silicon Valley: Here is an interesting, free talk open to all interested. I've been to several of their presentations in the past and they were always of great technical value. Please do NOT reply to me, thanks. Either follow instructions on RSVP/website or for more specific questions not answered there, please contact John or Paul (cc'd here). -----Original Message----- From: John Hall [mailto:john_hall3@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, June 01, 2003 8:39 AM To: list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: HCA MEETING REMINDER - June 5, 2003 This is a reminder of the HCA meeting coming up on Thursday June 5 , 2003 at 5:30 PM. ABSTRACT: Several interconnect protocols, such as Infiniband and RapidIO, have been standardized within the past few years. They support chip-chip, board-board and chassis-chassis interconnects via serial multi-gigabit interfaces. Applications for these protocols include serial backplanes, server clustering, and I/O aggregation to name a few. This presentation will provide an overview of the key features of these protocols. Implementation examples will be discussed that highlight some of the associated technical challenges. BIOGRAPHY: Raghu Sastry received an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of South Florida, Tampa. At Agilent, he is responsible for new technology and products related to high performance interconnect solutions for storage, telecom, and server applications. Prior to joining Agilent, he worked at RedSwitch, Inc. and HAL Computer Systems, Inc. on the design and implementation of silicon for several standard and proprietary interconnects. Raghu, an IEEE Senior Member, has more than 20 publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on VLSI systems, and has been awarded 7 patents.
