In my last email there was an typo in the optic module name. The optic
module should have been listed as the SD-43 not TEK-23 or TEK-24. Sorry for
the mistake.

I am using the TEK 11801 sampling scope and agree that it is a very good
scope. I have been looking for the TEK-23 optic module and was told it was
no longer available. However, I received a voice mail from Tek today and
they said there was much response for the 11801 scope that the TEK-23 optic
module is going to be manufactured again!

I realize that this email was about copper cables but I thought some of you
might like to know about the TEK-23 module.

The part about the 11801 scope not being supported is true. Tek confirmed
the sad news to me when I was looking for the TEK-24 optic module.

My 2C

I'm not from Tek, and I have an 11801, I do not find it "incomprehensible"
that Tek stop supporting the unit. As I see it - It's all a matter of
incoming revenue vs. cost of supporting it and whether the stopped support
will increase sales of newer model and support which is the CSA8000.

Why'd they discontinue the 11801 if it had such a large install base?
 "Technology"-always on the move !

If I was to decide on a Model I'd definitely go with the CSA8000 and you'd
wouldn't have to worry whether you lose support or not, which I had the
pleasure to see at a "TDA Systems Seminar" & also had TEK there representing
the CSA8000.

It had allot of nifty features and had a windows based screen which I liked.
I think they were talking about integrating TDR software into it as an
option- Maybe Mr. Smolyansky could confirm that- He's on SI List.

If your interested & with questions on the CSA8000:

Tektronix
Hank Crombie
1-800-545-2712x4720

I think CSA8000 base price is around 20K.

Rich

Thanks Jan, However all the parts and modules are still listed in Teks
2001 Catalog, and I've had no such warnings given to me. In fact I have
just recd a cal due notice from Tek for my equipment and it makes no
mention that these are going out of production. Due to the VERY large
installed base of 11801's and 803's I personally find it
incomprehensible that Tek should wish to even suggest that they wish to
stop supporting this equipment. Anyone from Tek care to comment?
