Charles, I'm not sure there was enough information in the first place,like the frequency of the transmitter for example which would give us an idea of the component values. PCB layout issues also may have a big impact as it would affect the routing of the discharge current. It wasn't stated whether it was a total failure of the tx to the ESD spike, or just a temporary disruption. The solution may be different in each case. As another idea to mitigate the problem, have better insulation on the antenna.
