Vikas,

There are two syntaxes in IBIS for describing package (but not for
ebd). One is using matrices, and the other uses uncoupled RLC values.

With the first one you can describe all coupling effects, but
you can have only one section for the entire package. With the
second one you can't describe coupling, but you can have multiple
sections cascaded. With this one, you can, however, make separate
models with values that represent even or odd (or any other mode)
and you should still see the effects of coupling in your simulations.

The new ICM specification, however, will eliminate these limitations.
You will be able to use matrices and cascade them, and you will also
be able to use S-parameter data to include frequency domain effects.
The Open Forum is currently reviewing the ICM specification. You are
welcome to do so too, and give feedback to the Open Forum if there is
something incorrect, or missing.

Thanks,

Arpad

Subject: [SI-LIST] Differential traces in ebd file

The traces in the ebd file of a package are expressed in the form of =
RLC. For a differential trace , this will not take into account the =
mutual inductance and Cap effects. Also , the odd mode differential =
impedance will not be taken into account. How do we overcome this =
problem ? Is is the limitation of ebd format ?
