I often wonder if anyone from Synopsis bothers to monitor this list. I don't recall ever seeing any advice from them, even though a vast majority of SI persons (at least on this list) seem to be using HSPICE for at least part (if not all) of their SI work. It has long been an area of amusement and sorrow to me that the most used (and arguably best) simulation tool is owned by an IC simulation house that really doesn't care about the PCB market or simulation thereof. Note: I am not criticizing Synopsis. They are in the IC business and it is not their fault if everyone wants to use HSPICE to simulate PCB's. Julia, The problem you are seeing I have seen often but I can't remember the HSPICE option settings that you can use to make it go away. I don't believe that you have to do Frequency only sweeps for long transmission lines cause I have simulated TLINES of greater that 10 feet in HSPICE and got answers almost as good as XTK. I hope that an HSPICE guru will chime in. anytime now jon -----Original Message----- From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Nekrylova, Julia Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2004 5:06 PM To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] Convergence problem after inserting detailed connector model Hello, I've added a detailed connector model to my Hspice deck and started getting "internal timestep too small" error messages. Before that the connector was represented just by RLGC matrix model. Tried different fixes: reduced transition times, set initial conditions, tried gear method, put shunt conductances and capacitances. Some times in the past Accurate=1 and Converge=4 worked for me, but this time nothing seems to help. What else I could try? I am pretty sure there are lots of people on the list who had similar problems with their spice decks after adding sophisticated interconnect models. What could be the most popular solution in this case besides talking to the connector company application engineer?
