Hi All,
My spice simulator does not support s-parameter port simulation.
So, I am using equations to find out common mode and differential mode
return loss for my differential driver circuit.
The driver circuit has positive and negative terminals txp and txn.
For common mode return loss, I am connecting 50 ohm resistor between txp
and vcmext and also between txn and vcmext where vcmext is a new node.
Then I connect a 1 A current source between vcmext and gnd.
Then I use equation
return_loss_cm=PAR'20*log10(abs(25-v(vcmext))/abs(25+v(vcmext)))'
Basically I am calculating common mode impedance by connecting 1A current
source. Then I am using the return loss equation Zl-Z0/Zl+Z0 and converting
it into log. Is the common mode return loss calculated this way is correct?
I have a query about differential mode return loss as well but I will post
it once you guys help me with this.
If anyone has some testbench to calculate differential and common mode
return loss from spice simulations, please share with me.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Regards
Rohit
