There seems to be some variance between serial transceiver vendors over the use of CML or LVPECL drivers and I'm wondering if any of you have any opinions on the issue. My understanding is that for high-speed links, CML is preferable since it is is less likely to induce reflections on the line since it has 50 ohm drivers whereas LVPECL has very low output impedance. This all makes good sense, but I'm concerned about the apparent differences between the vendors (specifically, 1 and 2 Gb Fibre Channel) as well as the degree of risk associated with LVPECL transceivers. Your input is greatly appreciated. ---------------------------------- Christopher McGrath ADIC Sr. Hardware Engineer Vx: (607) 241-4858 Fx: (607) 241-4952 eM: chris.mcgrath@xxxxxxxx www.adic.com ---------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
