I find that professional newsgroups such as the si-list
are different than other types of newsgroups.
I would respect the respondent by continuing the discussion
in kind. If they responded off-line, then I'd continue the
discussion off-line. If they responded on-line, then I'd
continue the discussion on-line.
If a question was raised during an off-line discussion that
couldn't be answered, then I'd simply post it as a generic
question without reference to the person and/or any
previous off-line discussion with that person.
