Amphenol Spectra-Strip has an immediate opening in its Hamden CT headquarters 
for a qualified Signal Integrity - Design Engineer, reporting to the Director 
of Product Development.  This position will interface closely with our large 
worldwide OEM design and signal integrity customers, and will be responsible 
for creating and validating new, high data rate bulk copper cable designs.

will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:

* Must have experience with high frequency signal integrity problems and 
solutions.  Expected to travel (approximately 10%) along with Spectra-Strip 
sales personnel, and interface with customer's highest level engineers.
* Recognizes, negotiates, and resolves difficulties and contradictions 
contained in initial customer requirements.
* Designs cable specifications based on understanding of customer's complex 
electronic, mechanical, and thermal requirements.
* Performs electromagnetic modeling supporting new product design.
* Writes Engineering sample requests for new product prototypes based on 
customer, Marketing & Engineering requirements.  Follows up on execution of 
sample requests.
* Provides Manufacturing Engineering with detailed process guides on 
developmental samples.
* Participates in discussions with Manufacturing Engineering and Machine Design 
to arrive at the best method of manufacturing a new product.  Act as liaison to 
the Manufacturing Department during the implementation of this method.
* Be adept with cable test and measurement methods, utilizing TDR and VNA 
instruments, in order to support and guide the production test lab. 
* Collects all raw materials necessary to produce new product prototypes 
working with vendors as necessary to refine such raw materials.
* Provides technical support to Marketing in the form of testing, 
demonstrations of product use, interpretation of product specifications, and 
field support as required.
* Attends various industry standards meetings to technically represent 
Spectra-Strip and keep management informed of important standards developments.
Requirements:
A Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 3 years experience 
in high frequency Signal Integrity.
Must possess a working knowledge of Transmission Line Theory and have 
experience with 2D or 3D electromagnetic modeling.  Must be conversant with all 
signal integrity issues, and be adept with S parameter VNA measurements.
Experience with interconnection industry technical committees will be 
considered a plus.
Will be trained in methods of design, production, and test of electronic wire 
and cable.
