Hi Bala,

if you terminate the SFP+ end with 100Ohm, then the resulting ipedance will be
50Ohm (SFP+ transceiver 100Ohm parallel to 100Ohm resistor). I don't think this
will reduce the return loss in any way.
You should check the SFP+ footprint, vias (if there are any) and BGA Footprint
for high reflections. Did you cut out the GND plane underneath the SFP+ solder
pad?

BR
Gert

Betreff: [SI-LIST] Return loss on 10G signals

Hi Experts,

We have XAUI Tranciver and SFP+ in our design. While simulating for the total
channel loss,we saw some return loss issues. Is this okay to add
100 ohm termination at the SFP+ end.Is this acepatble.its 10G signals.Please
help.
