Hi Doug,
I am wondering if you could help me with a referral. I am looking for a
senior level signal integrity engineer. We need someone to help us with our
future ddr3 and ddr4 memory busses. Here is a quick job description:

Contact Jeffrey.worth@xxxxxxx

Thanks,

Jeff

JOB DESCRIPTION:

AMD has an immediate opening for a Senior Signal Integrity engineer. Key
responsibilities are:
. System-level signal integrity simulations of future DDR3 and DDR4
memory busses including silicon IO, package, and board.
. System-level signal integrity simulations of future high-speed links
such as FBDIMM-2, HyperTransport-3, PCI-Express-2, etc. including silicon
IO, package, and board.
. Electromagnetic modeling of 3-D structures including vias,
connectors, sockets.
. Implementation of a HVM solution-space methodology involving
design-of-experiments (DOE) to improve simulation coverage.
. Influence electrical design direction of industry standards groups
working on state-of-the-art memory busses and IO links.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have a MS-EE or PHD-EE with 10 or more years
of industry experience in high speed digital bus simulations and high speed
board level design. An in-depth knowledge of the following is required:
. Transmission line theory and microwave engineering concepts such as
S-parameter, etc.
. Low-voltage swing signaling technologies.
. System-level timing analysis considering effects from silicon IO,
package, and board.
. State-of-the-art PCB stackup/construction.
. State-of-the-art microprocessor package stackup/construction.
. I/O driver/receiver modeling for state-of-the-art high-speed digital
logic.
. AC/DC power delivery, power integrity analysis.
. Bit-Error-Rate (BER) theory and application to high-speed links.
. Expertise in analog simulation with Hspice, Quad-XTK, or other
toolsets.
. Expertise in 3-D modeling with Ansoft HFSS/Q3D or other toolsets.
. Expertise with DSO, TDR, VNA, ParBERT measurement tools/techniques.
. UNIX/Windows operating systems
. X86 CPU system operation
.       C/C++/Perl programming

Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: Testing chips with system level specs

Hi David and the group,

I thought I would make some measurements. Humidity was not controlled
but constant and likely about 40% and room temperature.

I did many discharges into a ground plane through an Fischer F-65 (my
favorite ESD current probe) over a period of a several minutes around
8 kV. Most all of the discharges were relatively slow but once in a
while a fast event occurred. The occasional fast discharge happened
whether the approach was fast or slow.

Not sure if doing discharges in succession (5 seconds in between)
affects later discharges. If so that might explain some of the
results. It seems that there may be some remnants left over from the
previous spark.

Doug
