[SI-LIST] Re: A question about how fast the step pulse we need in measuring impedance

I tend to make several different measurements of the channel at different
risetimes. I'll use the raw output to see what is going on in the channel.
This lets me see if there are any severe bandwidth limiting structures
(large discontinuities). I will then slow the risetime down to one half the
system risetime and use that to determine if there is anything that needs to
be cleaned up. Finally I'll use the system risetime.

measuring impedence

The point of the instrument is to characterize the channel. Extra
bandwidth is usually a plus.

What you should be more concerned with is how to accurately deembed the
instrumentation from the DUT. If your launches obscure your
measurements your test data won't be worth very much.
